Marigolds by Eugenia Collier

Many people have struggled once in their life time. Struggling is when you have a problem and you are not able to deal with it. For example, slavery. Back in the day, slaves struggled through a lot of difficulties because of their skin color. In my opinion, when someone is struggling in a situation I believe you should deal with the situation the best you possibly can. Otherwise, if you don't, you'll struggle even more with that situation.
I believe people should deal with the problem they're struggling with as best as they can because if they deal with it in a negative way, they'll regret it later. The story, "Marigolds" by Eugenia Collier is about a young woman, Lizabeth living in the Great Depression, growing up in a poverty town. In the story, Lizabeth hears her parents arguing and she decided to go to Miss Lottie's house and she ended up tearing up all of Miss Lottie's marigolds. In this part of the story, the narrator states, "In that humiliating moment i looked beyond myself and into the depths of another person. This was the beginning of compassion, and one cannot have both compassion and innocence." This shows that when you struggle you should deal with it as best you can because now Lizabeth believe she lost her innocence because of what she did to Miss Lottie. This is why you should deal with the problem your struggling with the best as you can or else you'll regret it later.

Marigolds..

Many people go through different, difficult situations. In these difficult situations you should learn to take things more calm. In the story, " Marigolds " by Eugenia Collier, a young girl experiences a loss of someone she admired and loved. " The woman who had dared to create beauty in the midst of ugliness and sterility. " This young girl admired this lady because she planted marigolds while living in a dreary place, this old lady was being positive and being who she is. This old lady left something inspiring for this girl to remember.

The End . :)

In "The Raven" By Edgar Allen Poe, repetition is the device that plays a larger role. He uses it when he says, "Nevermore." It plays a larger role because when the raven kept repeating "Nevermore" it made him realize that Lenore is never coming back.
In "The incident in the Rose Garden" By Edgar Allen Poe, irony is the device that plays a larger role. He uses it when he says, "Sir, I knew your father, And we were friends at the end." It plays a larger role because death is explaining that he knew his father, which means he took him & now he was going after him.
